Titanfall 2

The first Titanfall was a fun game. It was a little overhyped, and it was lacking a storyline, but it was fun to play.

After a few rounds of the Titanfall 2: Tech Test…I can say I’m truly excited about the full version of the game.

In the test, they brought back some goodies from the first game, and it feels like a definite upgrade. The word is that they added a whole campaign story line which should give it some added “meat”. Especially for those that want more than must multiplayer.

It’s faster than Halo, it takes more strategy than Call of Duty, and has a lot of different game types (Suck it Blizzard and your three game types).

The new Titan, “Scorch”, has some fun abilities, and the new weapons add a new element to some of the game types. We seemed to be drawn to Amped Hardpoint. (Think domination, only you get double point for double-capturing map points.)
There are a few problems we’ve encountered from the test:

  • Some of the games feel a little imbalanced, and seem to allow spawn-camping pretty easily.
  • The multiplayer matchmaking is pretty much worthless, but they say that the alpha matchmaking is not what the actual game will have. (Yay!)

But overall, if the test is a true representation of the game…Titanfall 2 is going to see a lot of time in my Xbox’s slot.

For being nothing more than a multiplayer test mode, we spent a good number of hours engrossed in Titan combat. We’ll probably play it when they test it again this weekend.

Titanfall 2 comes out October 28, 2016.
